If you are unable to attend a sale in person Horners are happy to execute bids on your behalf- this service is confidential. Horners cannot accept liability for any failure to execute any absentee bid. Bids are processed on a secure page.
Absentee bidders who are unable to inspect the lots should be aware of the following: Horners are unable to offer condition reports. We are pleased to provide e-mail images of items for your assessment. If required, we will give an honest opinion in writing as to any damage or restoration which is immediately apparent. We do not hold ourselves to be experts and accept no responsibility for any oral opinion which may be given. We give no guarantee on authenticity, completeness or concealed restoration. We strongly recommend your personal viewing of the item. If purchase is subsequently effected – viewed or not viewed – full liability as to the price, condition, authenticity and suitability is that of the purchaser.
The following is an extract from our standard sale terms and conditions :
If instructed, the auctioneers will execute written bids for prospective purchasers; this service is free.Lots will always be purchased as cheaply as allowed by such other bids and reserves as are on the auctioneer’s books. In the event of identical bids, the earliest will take precedence, a bid in the saleroom will also take precedence over any absentee bid.There must always be a maximum limit indicated, i.e. the amount to which you would bid if you were attending the auction yourself. ” Buy” or unlimited bids will not be accepted.Commission bids placed by telephone are accepted at the client’s risk. We do accept commission bids by email using our secure online bid form. We urge our clients to place such commission bids within one hour of the close of the view day.
Please allow adequate time for your bid to reach us as we cannot guarantee that bids received after 17.00 GMT on the day before the sale will be accepted.
